Does anyone recognise this venue? (**) The loco reminds me of familiar similar scenes at London Liverpool Street, but I believe this is not there. I cannot (for the time being) find the card recording the details. Could it be Scotland? I love the smokily-languid way these B17s would take-off like this with a rake of passenger stock, while small boys (such as I was in the late 1940s) watched (like the two(?) just visible) near the top LHS of this shot), taking the smells and sound and visuals into memory banks which are still accessible sixty-something years later.
(**) (added 5.3.16): I had input on 27.12.15 from David Brown who is interested in the Kirkby family and the Nanney family (my second cousin Jonnet Garner’s father’s family), and he says "The B17.1 No.61629 Naworth Castle is definitely at Liverpool Street. I have seen pictures of a Britannia and another B17 in roughly the same location.” Thank you David. That really helps.
