A potted history of Bleriot's life. To put into perspective Great Uncle Ernest Archer's efforts in flying a Type XI Bleriot monoplane at Twello and elsewhere. (30.3.18).
It would have been a great achievement, had Uncle Ernest, actually been able to make and fly his own aircraft, using the simple components that the Oxford Mail lists in its article, but the acount of Bleriot's work found in Wikipedia and elswehere makes it very clear that vastly more work than 'one prototype' is needed to reach where Bleriot was in 1909, with the 'Type XI', and that, very plainly (if you just compare visually Uncle Ernest's 'Twello' aircraft with a Type XI), and on the authority of input from Dutch early-aviation researcher Klaas Jan Sijling, is without a doubt at all, the aircrafta he flew.
