I wonder whether the two men at the wing-tip are Ernie’s ‘colleagues’ who swing the aircraft round to face in the take-off direction, and then give the propellor a swing (not, I should think, as effective as a good leg-swing on a motor-cycle kick-start) to start the (allegedly) motor-cycle engine. This looks as if it might have been taken after a flight - to record it for ‘posterity’.
