What more could be offered? Well, knowing now a little more about people in their generality than I did then (though not present at the dinner), I'm sure there would be some (hopefully subdued) criticism of the menu. Seems pretty reasonable to me. Nice to know what they all actually ate on that epochal (to me now) day. And how many were there to be served? Must refer to the table plan (see elsewhere on this site): answer: 56 persons.
