Archer Cowley's Dennis 'Stork' 800 cubic feet capacity van with Perkins 4 cylinder diesel engine in March 1955:

Post-war confidence! Presumably the March 1955 date was the delivery date for this new van.

Ten years after the cessation of hostilities in 1945. And two years before the centenary in 1957. The firm ws going forward again with capital purchases.

Interestlingly to me (PBA) I have had connections with both Dennis and Perkins in my business life. I actually acted for Dennis as their patent agent while they were part of the Hestair Group in the late 1970s. And immediately before that I worked for Massey Ferguson of Coventry, who owned Perkins Engines of Peterborough, and my boss David Bryn Jones did their patent work, so I had some knowledge of it, though not in a very direct way. Perkins is now part (a very small part indeed) of the Caterpillar Group of companies.
