Here are some particulars of the sale of James Archer’s south-Oxford property when, as I understand it, he moved away from the world of horse-drawn vehicles into steam and/or petrol. I do have somewhere, an indication of the date when this sale took place, and I will add it in due course. Meanwhile (18.10.16), here we have a first page of listed items that were all up for auction sale, and here are the very items that great-great Uncle James possessed and used to run that very successful business of his, which made the financial solidity of the family for a long time afterwards, due to his generosity to his nephew, William George Reed Archer. The date and time of the sale (or anyway, of one such sale) was Thursday 1st October 1925 at Grandpont Meadow, one mile from the city-centre of Oxford, at 12.30 pm precisely.
